Las Vegas Moving Statues and more

Today we drive to the West Grand Canyon in Arizona

Las Vegas is a desert climate

I'm still in Las Vegas. It's very big and there are a lot of lights at night. There are about 50 big hotels. At night it's cold but in the day time when the sun is shining it's not bad. We have some great pictures of Las Vegas but we have to wait until we get home to post them on my BLOG. At night my lips and eyes feel very dry. My dad says that's because this is a desert climate and there's very little moisture in the air.

Sean's BLOG's day 1 - Trip to Las Vegas

We left Oakley, CA at 8:45am. It was sunny when we left and it remained sunny until we reached Tehachapi, CA. It was snowing there and very cold - below freezing. We made snow balls for the first time. Once we passed Tehachapi it started to warm up and became sunny again. We drove through Mojave desert and we saw Joshua trees along the side of the road. On the road to Las Vegas it began to get dark and it became colder again outside. My feet were freezing even though I was in the car. We arrived in Las Vegas at 5:39pm. We were all tired and hungry.

The day before my roadtrip !

I'm really excited. This morning my dad and I researched some interesting facts about Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam. Did you know that hard hats were used for the first time when building the Hoover Dam in 1933. We are picking up a rental car this afternoon. Tomorrow we drive to Las Vegas and we will be staying at the Venetian Hotel. I will blog another report when I reach Las Vegas.

Sean Heaney's Road Trip Report for Saint Philips 4th Grade project

This is Sean Heaney's report for Saint Philip's fourth grade social studies class. I will be blogging a report of my roadtrip with my family from San Francisco through southern California, then east to Las Vegas, Nevada. From there I will travel to the Hoover Dam and then onto the west rim of the Grand Canyon, located in Arizona. Then back to Las Vegas for one night.  From there I will go to Death Valley in the south east of California. Depending on weather conditions I hope to see Mount Whitney on the drive home.  This is the highest mountain in the contiguous (48 states) United States of America.  My worldwind journey begins Sunday, November 28th, 2010.  Stay tuned.
